What’s included

  • Old flooring out. Old carpet, pad, tack strip and staples are removed and hauled away.
  • Subfloor check. Squeaks, high spots and damaged sections are dealt with first; carpet hides a lot, but not a bouncy floor.
  • New underpad. The pad matters as much as the carpet for comfort and how long it lasts, so it is chosen with the carpet.
  • Install. Carpet is stretched tight, seams are placed out of the main walkways where the room allows, and edges are finished at every doorway.
  • Carpet tile. For basements, offices and common areas, carpet tile can be replaced one tile at a time.

How the job runs

  1. 1Estimate. We measure the rooms and stairs, plan seam placement, and give you a written price.
  2. 2Prep. The old floor comes out and the subfloor is repaired where needed.
  3. 3Install. Underpad and carpet go down, with transitions to the floors next to it.
  4. 4Cleanup. Offcuts and old material are removed and we walk the rooms with you.

What it costs

Carpet is priced by the square foot (stairs per step) and depends on the carpet, the underpad, the room layout and whether old flooring has to come out. We give you a written price after measuring.

Where it makes sense

  • Bedrooms and upstairs hallways.
  • Basement rec rooms on a dry slab, which we check before recommending carpet.
  • Stairs, where carpet is quieter and softer than hard flooring.
  • Offices and common areas in carpet tile.

Where it doesn’t

  • Kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms and entryways, which see water and grit. Vinyl plank installation.
  • Basements with moisture problems. A waterproof floor is the safer choice there.
  • Homes where allergies make a hard floor easier to keep clean. Hardwood installation.

Questions we get

Do you remove my old carpet?
Yes. Old carpet, pad, tack strip and staples come out and are hauled away as part of the job.
Carpet or vinyl plank for a basement?
Carpet is warmer and softer; vinyl plank is waterproof. If the slab has any moisture, vinyl plank is the safer choice. We check before recommending either.
Can you carpet stairs?
Yes. Stairs are measured and priced separately from the rooms because each step is cut and fitted by hand.
Do you install carpet tile?
Yes, for basements, offices and common areas, like the elevator lobby above.
